Andrea González Caballero brings uncommon polish and intensity to the concert stage, with playing that combines rhythmic precision, a broad palette of color, and an instinctive sense of line. Spanish repertoire sits naturally at the center of her musical world, but what distinguishes her playing is the way she shapes character from one phrase to the next—sometimes fiery, sometimes restrained, always sharply defined.
Critics have taken notice. Opera World praised her “enormous talent and interpretive maturity” and described her as a musician of “special sensitivity, charm and exquisiteness,” while BBC Music Magazine named her among “Five of the best young classical guitarists.” Her performances have also been praised for their control, elegance, and ability to hold an audience completely in the moment.
Andrea first appeared with Wilmington Classical Guitar in 2019, and we are delighted to welcome her back for a full evening of music that promises refinement, energy, and plenty of Spanish flair.

MASTERCLASS
10/17/26: Andrea González Caballero will be teaching a masterclass in the afternoon, October 17 at 1:00 pm in the West Room of Covenant Community Center. The masterclass is free to observe and open to the public, but registration is required. Register as an auditor to sit in and hear what Ms. González Caballero has to teach our guest performers, or register as a performer for your chance to perform for Andrea and have her critique your performance (a small tuition fee applies). Described by OperaWorld Magazine as “the female voice of the Spanish guitar,” Andrea González Caballero is recognized as one of the leading classical guitarists of her generation. Her musical talent and artistic individuality have earned her top prizes at major international competitions, including First Prize at the XIII Alhambra International Guitar Competition in Valencia and First Prize and Special Prize at the XL International Competition F. Sor in Rome.
Andrea has collaborated as a soloist with orchestras including the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, the Cottbus Staatstheater Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra of Moldova, and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen in Germany. Recent highlights include performances with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, collaborations with acclaimed opera singer Isabel Signoret, and the recent IDENTIDADE performance at Centro Botín in Santander, Spain, alongside flutist Amalia Tortajada.
Her Naxos Records release, featuring world premieres alongside works by Britten, Albéniz, and Tárrega, received critical acclaim and was awarded the prestigious Golden Melómano distinction. Melómano Magazine praised the recording as “a delicate, elegant and majestic musical world.”
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC AND COLLABORATIONS. Beyond her performance career, Andrea is deeply committed to expanding and renewing the classical guitar repertoire through collaborations with contemporary composers and interdisciplinary projects. She has premiered works by Sergio Assad, Joaquín Clerch, Clarice Assad, Gabriela Ortiz, Carlos Fernando López, Dustin Carlson, Johanny Navarro, and Elisenda Fábregas, among others.
In 2020, she co-founded IDENTIDADE, an innovative artistic platform bringing together women creators from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds. The project’s debut album, created together with flutist Amalia Tortajada, features works written specifically for the ensemble by award-winning composers Clarice Assad, Gabriela Ortiz, Elisenda Fábregas, and Johanny Navarro. The album received the Carles Santos Award for Best Classical Music Album, the Melómano de Oro distinction, and was a finalist at the MIN Independent Music Awards in Spain.
Andrea’s artistic collaborations extend beyond the concert stage. She co-composed and performed music for the American film No Man’s Land and released EUSKARAZ together with Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning composer and producer Carlos Fernando López.
