Dear Subscriber,
We hope you’re as excited for our concert tonight with the Xavier Jara as we are! It’s looking like it will be a great night for a concert. Doors open at 7:00 pm, so arrive early, and get a great seat!
Xavier knocked our socks off during his GFA tour in 2018. We always expect the best from the Guitar Foundation of America’s International Concert Artist Competition winner’s tour (especially since we’re often the last concert on the tour and the musicians are very well practiced), but when we welcome a young musician who is both virtuosic and deeply musical, it is a time for celebration. Xavier is the whole package, and his music is evocative, consuming, and deeply intentional. You’ll know what I mean when you hear him.
In 2018 Xavier treated us to a very special performance of the Stephen Goss’ Labyrinth, a piece newly composed for the GFA competition, and I’m happy to finally be able to share it with you. Imagine being in the audience for this performance; imagine the magic he’ll be bringing to our stage again on Saturday night!
Tonight’s program contrasts works of the Renaissance and Baroque eras with contemporary works from the past 100 years, some which blur the lines between the eras. It should be a very interesting program:
