Greetings Members,
As promised, I uploaded this month’s challenge piece a little earlier than last month’s, although still maybe not as early as I had hoped. Time has very little meaning these days. Hopefully 2.5 weeks is enough time to muster your best efforts for this short piece.
You can find this month’s challenge piece, Souvenir d’automne by Simone Iannarelli in the Wilmington Classical Guitar Society – Members Facebook group. If you’re not already a member of the Facebook group, and your membership with WCGS is current, please request admission at https://www.facebook.com/groups/275482806679259/ and I’ll be happy to admit you.
I have also archived this and last month’s pieces in a new learning unit you can access in the Facebook group through the menu. There’s also a great unit on Baroque Dance there that you should take a look at if you haven’t already. Units are also open to submissions if you have something you’d like to add or share.
The monthly challenge piece is intended as a prompt to inspire and motivate each of us to explore new (but not necessarily contemporary) music and put our best efforts into a short work accessible by all (or most). The challenge is to learn the piece and perform it for the group at the next salon. We’ll hear many different interpretations, and we’ll compare/contrast their relative success. No prizes, but lots of props for bringing the music.
If you have suggestions for a future challenge piece, please let me know!
Best wishes,
Matthew
