Greetings WCGS Members!
We’re super excited for our upcoming concert with Philadelphia legend (and WCGS Member) Brendan Evans this Saturday, November 17! Our goal this year is to increase our attendance; there are simply too many empty seats in our beautiful hall. Please give us a hand and tell your friends and family about our amazing concerts coming up, and share our event on Facebook. Every little bit helps, and your help is invaluable here.
Upcoming Event: Brendan Evans with special guests Zach Alex and Liam Thomas
Philadelphia guitar virtuoso Brendan Evans put on a blistering performance for us in 2013, and we’ve really been looking forward to inviting him back to perform for us again. Our tenth season is the perfect opportunity! Since 2013 he has been performing all over the world, including Turkey, Nepal, Thailand, Italy, Australia, Mexico and many other wonderful places, and he brings these experiences back with him to perform for us. Be prepared for a program full of captivating music and surprises. I hope you’ll join us!
Brendan has really put together a great program for us, including Barrios’ La Catedral (always a favorite), Rodrigo’s Tres Piezas Espanolas (one of my favorites), and the seldom heard Variations sur Folia De España et Fugue by Ponce. In addition, there will be some Giuliani, Matiegka, and Sainz de la Maza. I’m really excited for this program.
Tickets are on sale now in our Online Store. Your WCGS Member coupon code for this concert is evansWCGS. To get your member discount, add a General Admission ticket to your cart, and then apply the coupon code in the cart or at checkout for your discount.

Upcoming Special Event: December Lecture Salon and Annual Meeting
We had a great time last year at our December salon, where we all enjoyed the music of guitar virtuoso Celil Refik Kaya who played for us in celebration of our 100th salon. Although this year isn’t quite as awesome a milestone, it is our 10th season, and we decided we’d use that excuse to plan another great event!
Join us Sunday, December 16th at 6 pm for our first WCGS Potluck Lecture Salon, featuring guitarist and founder of Classical Guitar Corner Dr. Simon Powis and luthier David Pace. Simon will be giving a brief lecture on interpreting the music of J.S. Bach, and David will be speaking to us about guitar construction and some of his unique approaches to modern guitar design. It should be a lot of fun, and very informative.
We’ll also be having a potluck dinner with the meeting, so please bring something to share. If you have any questions about what to bring, feel free to send me a message.
More details, including where to RSVP, will be forthcoming as we draw closer to the event, so keep an eye on your email box. I hope you’ll join us.
