Dear Subscriber,
As 2019 comes to a close, I find myself looking forward to what next year will bring, but even more, I find myself looking back: a few days ago to our 2nd annual Potluck Lecture Salon; two months ago to our concert with the brilliant Spanish guitarist Andrea González Caballero; two years ago to our 100th guitar salon. To summer barbecues, masterclasses, and over 100 fine musicians who have poured their hearts out on our stage.
But looking back at these events, it’s not the music played, the food we shared, or the things we learned that I remember most fondly. It’s the people – the community we have built together over the past 10 years – that fills my heart with joy. Time shared with friends. We have a special thing here, and I’m thankful for you and this community every day. With your help, we have brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, and with your support we can continue to do so for years to come.
Our sincere thanks to all who have donated so far this season. THANK YOU! If you haven’t yet completed your year-end donations for the 2019 tax season, would you be interested in making a year-end gift?
This year we’ve been given a special opportunity: an anonymous donor has offered to match up to $750 of year-end donations to help us buy a professional camera for our video production. A new camera will help us produce more professional content, helping us to promote our artists and broaden our community by reaching more people. Can you help us reach our goal to match 100%?
Your gift this season will help support:
-
• Our Wilmington Classical Guitar concert series and masterclasses featuring world-class guitarists from all over the world.
• Our Opening Artist Program, which gives aspiring artists opportunities to gain experience by performing brief sets at the start of our visiting artist concerts.
• Our monthly salon series, designed as a friendly forum for our members to practice performing and receive feedback from their peers. This friendly, no-pressure environment is a safe space for a first performance, and an invaluable source of inspiration and helpful critiques.
• Our outreach performances, bringing classical guitar out of the concert hall to inspire listeners throughout the Greater Wilmington area and share our love of the classical guitar with new audiences.
Please consider a year-end gift in any amount to help make all this possible. Help us reach our goal of meeting and exceeding our donor’s $750 matching gift! You may donate online at https://www.wilmingtonguitar.org/donate at any time, or mail a check payable to “Wilmington Classical Guitar” to our Treasurer, Simon Varley, at 8 Sawmill Rd., Glenn Mills, PA 19342.
Thanks for being part of the Wilmington Classical Guitar family! It wouldn’t be the same without you.
