ALERT: Wilmington Classical Guitar Cancellations Update

Dear Friends of WCG:

Due to the rapidly-evolving containment measures relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly Governor John Carney’s Second Modification to the State of Emergency and in the interest of promoting sound public health and social distancing practices, Wilmington Classical Guitar has decided to cancel the remainder of our 2019-20 concert season. Where possible, we plan to reschedule or modify the schedule as set forth below:

  • March 21 @1:30 pm: Masterclass with Jordan Dodson – RESCHEDULED for WCG Season 2020-21
  • March 21 @7:30 pm: Concert with Jordan Dodsonwith special guests Un/Strung Guitar Duo – RESCHEDULED for WCG Season 2020-21
  • April 18 @1:30 pm: Masterclass with GFA Winner Raphaël Feuillâtre– CANCELLED (Will reschedule for WCG Season 2020-21 if possible)
  • April 18 @7:30 pm: GFA Winner’s Tour Concert featuring Raphaël Feuillâtre with special guests Robert Richey and Matthew Kaplan – CANCELLED (Will reschedule for WCG Season 2020-21 if possible. Robert Richey and Matthew Kaplan will be rescheduled for WCG Season 2020-21)
  • May 23 @7:30 pm: 8th Annual WCGS Members Concert – to be RECONFIGURED as a streaming concert

I know many of you are also concerned about how the outbreak will affect small businesses and nonprofits such as ours. No doubt many businesses and organizations are suffering from the loss of revenue they would normally be expecting at this time. Please support them. Wilmington Classical Guitar will be fine, and will be here to serve you and the rest of the community once it is safe to do so.

That being said, our artists who were scheduled to perform for us depend on their performance income for a living, and they, like artists the world over who have had all their gigs cancelled, are now struggling to make ends meet. This concerns us greatly, as we depend as much on our artists and their music as they depend on us and our audiences. We know many of you are concerned as well. We’ll be reaching out shortly with a plan to help. Stay posted.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your support. Please, stay home and stay healthy.
